I have been considering the benefits of a dietary detox. What can you tell me about body cleanses?

Brennan J. Robertson's Response

Over time, parasites and toxins can accumulate in the body and if they are left untreated they may lead to serious chronic disease. Our bodies are designed to be self-sufficient in maintaining a routine, healthy balance. But unfortunately, we are now exposed to a larger toxin load due to medications, smoking, alcohol or drug use, and toxin exposure in the environment.

A body cleanse can help increase the rate of elimination of stored toxins as well as provide support for the organs being cleansed. There are a multitude of cleanses available, ranging from mild to extreme. In choosing a body cleanse that's most suitable for you, make sure that the cleanse:

  • still allows your body to meet its daily essential nutrient needs
  • does not replace proper long-term nutrition with "quick fixes
  • hydrates your body thoroughly
  • provides the support needed for your organs in order to prevent against free-radical damage that may arise during the elimination of toxins

I would recommend consulting your doctor before starting any cleanse.
