Flavoxate belongs to the class of medications called antispasmodics. This medication is used to treat painful urination, urgency of urination, frequent urination at night, and incontinence. These symptoms may result from catheter use or conditions such as cystitis, prostatitis, urethritis, urethrocystitis, and urethrotrigonitis.
Flavoxate works by decreasing muscle spasms in the urinary tract and bladder. Beneficial effects on the bladder muscles may occur as quickly as 2 to 3 hours after taking the medication.

The usual recommended dose for adults and adolescents over 12 years is flavoxate 200 mg 3 or 4 times a day.

Each white, round, biconvex, film-coated tablet, engraved "APO" on one side and "FLA" over "200" on the other contains flavoxate hydrochloride 200 mg. Nonmedicinal ingredients: colloidal silicon dioxide, hydroxypropyl cellulose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, polyethylene glycol, and titanium dioxide.
