Health Canada has issued a recall for sex supplements that contain undeclared drugs and could cause heart attacks.

X-Rock, Kaboom and One For Her supplements are being pulled from shelves in Saskatchewan and B.C. after Health Canada found they contain undeclared prescription drugs sildenafil and tadalafil, both of which are used to treat erectile dysfunction and pulmonary hypertension.

The supplements are particularly dangerous for people who take nitrate-based drugs such as nitroglycerine, have a history of heart problems or at are high risk of stroke.

Under the distributor It Erotics, the pills were sold at Happy Paradise Adult Store and Ultimate Amore in Burnaby, B.C., Source Adult in Coquitlam, B.C., O'Behave Home Parties in Surrey, B.C., and Source Adult in Saskatoon,

Health Canada warns they may have also been sold elsewhere.

"Products containing sildenafil or tadalafil should never be used by individuals taking any kind of nitrate drug (e.g. nitroglycerine) as it can cause potentially life-threatening low blood pressure," reads the Health Canada statement.

"Individuals with heart problems including high blood pressure, a history of heart attack, stroke, abnormal heart beat or chest pain are at higher risk of cardiovascular side effects if they engage in sexual activity, including if they use sildenafil or tadalafil to help them achieve an erection."

Other possible side-effects of using sildenafil include headache, facial flushing, indigestion, dizziness, abnormal vision and hearing loss.

The supplements also contain the undeclared substance called hydroxythiohomosildenafil, which is similar to sildenafil.

Health Canada has not received any reports of adverse reactions.
