A new study says overweight children are at greater risk of developing bladder, urinary tract and colorectal cancers as adults.

Researchers from Israel's Tel Aviv University said men who were overweight or obese as children have a 50% greater risk of cancer compared to those who had a healthy body mass index.

The study featured a cohort of 1.1 million Israeli boys.

The research is published in the journals Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers and Prevention and Obesity.
