A new report finds that pregnancy apps may be more popular than fitness apps.
Mobihealthnews reports on new research from Citrix ByteMobile tracking mobile users in 60 different countries over the past few months. But rather than being based on verbal surveys or questionnaires, the data relies on the actual activity of an undisclosed sample size of users worldwide, writes Mobihealthnews.
According to the data, 39 percent of mobile users who are using at least one mobile health application are using a fitness app. Plus, of all the mobile health-related data traffic that operators facilitate, about 50 percent of it comes from personal fitness apps, reports Mobihealthnews.
However, pregnancy apps are actually more popular, even though they don't generate the amount of data that fitness apps such as Runkeeper do, states the report. So whereas people may download more fitness apps, the ones who download pregnancy apps tend to use the app more over time.
Interestingly, fitness apps generate the most mobile data traffic at 6pm, while women's pregnancy apps generate data around 9am.
