Compliments brand Super 8 Beef Burgers have been recalled because they may be contaminated with E. coli.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency said people have reported becoming sick after eating the burgers, but the number of cases was not released.
The burgers were sold in Ontario, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland and Labrador in Sobeys banner stores, which includes Sobeys, Foodland, FreshCo, and Price Chopper.
The strain of bacteria is E. coli 0157:H7 and is the same one which contaminated the drinking water in Walkerton, Ont., in May 2000. The E. coli contamination resulted in the deaths of seven people, while 2,300 others became sick.
