Maintaining a healthy weight

A healthy weight is important for the management of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Too much weight on the joints can lead to more joint disability and pain. If you are overweight, losing weight and maintaining a healthier weight can lighten the load on your knee and hip joints.

Are you at a healthy weight? Try our body mass index (BMI) calculator and ideal weight range calculator. The BMI lets you know what a healthy weight range is for you and it is calculated based on your height and weight. The ideal weight range calculates what a healthy weight range should be based on your height.

To help you reach and maintain a healthy body weight, you should participate in regular physical activity and eat a balanced and nutritious diet. If you plan on losing weight, talk to you doctor first.
